Bridalveil Creek at 7,200 feet is the Yosemite most people never see. Glacier Point Road puts you 26 miles from the Valley circus but only 7 miles from Glacier Point itself — and the trailheads for Taft Point and Sentinel Dome are 3 miles from camp. You get the full Yosemite experience (Half Dome views, granite, wildlife) with none of the Valley congestion.

Sentinel Dome at dusk — a 1.1-mile walk from the parking lot (3 miles from camp) gets you a 360-degree panorama of the entire Yosemite high country with almost no one else there. Most visitors drive to Glacier Point and miss it entirely. ⇒ Water: Bridalveil Creek has granite bowl swimming pools 0.5 miles upstream from camp where the creek widens. Cold snowmelt but swimmable by late July. Almost no other visitors use this section — the Bridalveil Fall crowds are on the Valley floor 7 miles away.

Wildlife alert: Black bears are very active — use the food storage lockers 24 hours a day, including toothpaste and sunscreen. Bears have learned to associate cars with food. Lock everything.

Fire rules: Campfires in fire rings only. No outside firewood — to prevent invasive insects (oak borer, emerald ash borer). Firewood available at Curry Village and Yosemite Village stores.
