Every Yosemite campground books out in minutes. CamperWatch scans Recreation.gov every 10 minutes and alerts you the moment a cancellation opens up — free. Or book a nearby private campground right now.
Yosemite receives over 5 million visitors per year and has approximately 1,400 campsite nights available in the Valley. Reservations for the most popular campgrounds — Upper Pines, Lower Pines, and North Pines — open exactly 5 months in advance at 7:00 AM Pacific time. They are completely booked within 2 minutes.
Tuolumne Meadows (high country, open late June) follows the same pattern. The only consistently bookable campgrounds in the park are Hodgdon Meadow (year-round, easiest availability) and Wawona (year-round partial, south entrance). Check these first.

Yosemite Valley campgrounds (Upper Pines, Lower Pines, North Pines) open reservations exactly 5 months in advance at 7:00 AM Pacific time — and sell out in under 2 minutes. Tuolumne Meadows has a 5-month window too. The park receives 5 million visitors per year competing for roughly 1,400 campsites.
Yes — two ways. First, set a CamperWatch availability alert for the specific campground and dates you want. Cancellations happen daily at 7:00 AM Pacific when Recreation.gov releases held reservations. Second, check Hodgdon Meadow and Wawona — they are consistently easier to book and open year-round.
Outside the park boundary: Thousand Trails Yosemite (Groveland), Yosemite Pines RV Resort (Groveland), and Indian Flat RV Park (El Portal, 2 miles from park entrance) have immediate availability with full hookups. Crane Flat and Hodgdon Meadow inside the park also have easier availability than Valley sites.
Recreation.gov releases cancellations and no-shows daily at 7:00 AM Pacific. Set a CamperWatch alert to be notified the moment a site opens for your dates. Midweek (Sunday–Thursday) cancellations are more common than weekend slots.
Wawona Campground has a first-come, first-served loop in winter (November–March) with pit toilets. All Valley campgrounds are reservations-only year-round. Camp 4 (walk-in) near El Capitan is first-come, first-served and popular with climbers.
Cancellations happen every day. Set a free alert and be the first to know.
