Lockaby offers beautiful riverside camping next to the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River with spacious, well-maintained sites. It's ideal for fishing, whitewater rafting, and wildlife viewing in the lush mountains of northern Oregon.
Wildlife alert: Bobcat, Columbian Black-tailed Deer, Douglas's Squirrel, Steller's Jay, Common Merganser, Barred Owl, Hairy Woodpecker, Northwestern Garter Snake, and Northern Alligator Lizard documented in the area.
Insider tips for Lockaby: Book early as this is a federal campground with high demand. River-front sites on one loop offer the best views; highway-side sites experience traffic noise. Avoid site #23, which is too small for large tents; site #24 is much more spacious.
Skip Lockaby if: You need RV hookups—most sites have no hookups; bring a self-contained unit or tent camp.. You prefer to visit outside May-October—seasonal operations only.. You're sensitive to highway noise—one side of the loop borders Highway 224..
