Florida State Park Camping FAQ

When is the best time to camp in Florida state parks?+
October through April is peak season for most of Florida — lower humidity, mild temperatures (65–80°F), and active wildlife. Winter is manatee season at Blue Spring. Summer is hot and humid but Panhandle beach parks can be beautiful in summer mornings.
Which Florida state park campground is hardest to book?+
Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys is the hardest to book — limited sites and one of the most acclaimed campgrounds in the US. Grayton Beach books out months in advance for fall weekends. Both open reservations 11 months ahead.
Can I see manatees from a Florida state park campground?+
Yes. Blue Spring State Park near Orange City is the best manatee spot in the country, with over 500 manatees using the spring run as a winter refuge (November–March). The campground is steps from the viewing boardwalk.
Are Florida state parks good for RV camping?+
Many Florida state parks have electric hookups. Fort De Soto has full hookups for RVs up to 40ft. St. Andrews accommodates large rigs. Bahia Honda has limited RV length (up to 26ft in some loops).
