Playa El Coyote — Bahía Concepción

Quieter Bahía Concepción cove — fewer people, same turquoise water, snorkeling off the beach

Bahía Concepción, Baja California Sur, Mexico4.8 (412)5 ft
Share: X Facebook
Cell signal:

Playa El Coyote is a smaller, quieter cove 3 miles south of Santispac on Bahía Concepción — the same stunning turquoise water with fewer people and better snorkeling. About 20–30 sites on a crescent beach, no facilities beyond pit toilets, and direct access to a rocky reef just offshore. The reef shelters tropical fish, sea turtles, and eagle rays. A palapa restaurant operates in peak season. Preferred by campers who want more solitude than Santispac.

Why campers love Playa El Coyote — Bahía Concepción

El Coyote is Santispac with fewer people and better snorkeling. The reef just offshore is the primary draw — 30 yards from the beach, accessible without fins in calm water, sheltering parrotfish, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, and moray eels. The crescent beach shape means calmer water on the south end even when wind picks up. And because it’s slightly harder to find than Santispac (no big signs on the highway), the guests who make it here tend to be Baja veterans who know what they’re doing.

What's new in 2026

2026: State fee increased to $15/night. Palapa restaurant confirmed open December–March.

What campers say about Playa El Coyote — Bahía Concepción

"The reef is 30 yards from the beach. We saw a 4-foot spotted eagle ray on day one. Santispac has better facilities but El Coyote has better snorkeling. Not close."

— Campendium 2025

"If Santispac is too crowded for you, keep driving south 3 miles. El Coyote is the same bay, half the people, and a better reef."

— iRV2 Forum 2025

"Arrived in late October and had the crescent beach almost to ourselves for four days. One of the best campsites of my life."

— The Dyrt 2026
