Bahía Concepción is Baja’s most famous beach camping destination — a series of stunning turquoise coves off Highway 1, about 15 miles south of Mulegé. Playa Santispac is the largest and most popular beach, with 50+ camping spots on white sand. No hookups anywhere on the bay — generator and solar country. A palapa restaurant (Ana’s) serves cold drinks and food. The water is warm enough to swim year-round. December–February the beach fills with snowbird RVers from the US and Canada who return every year.

Why campers love Playa Santispac — Bahía Concepción

Playa Santispac is the campground that converts people to Baja. Warm turquoise water, white sand, and the ability to swim in December — these are not things most North American campers know are possible. The snowbird community that returns here year after year has built a culture: Ana’s palapa restaurant, the potlucks, the hammock society. The bay is perfectly protected from Pacific swell, making it flat and safe for kids, kayakers, and paddleboards. And it costs $10–15/night.

What's new in 2026

2026: Ana’s added a wood-fired pizza on weekend nights (Friday–Sunday, peak season). State fee increased to $15/night. Water truck visiting Tuesdays and Fridays in peak season.
